Motherboard
What is a motherboard?
A motherboard is the major, underlying circuit board of a computer. The Central Processing Unit(CPU), Random Access Memory (RAM), and various disk or optical drives are all plugged into interfaces on it. A video interface and sound card can also be built-in or added, and additional connections are used by peripherals and various devices.
How does a motherboard work?
If you've ever taken the case off of a computer and you've seen the one piece of
equipment that ties everything together... this is called the motherboard. A motherboard allows all the parts of your computer to receive power and to communicate with one another. The motherboards main job is to hold the computer's microprocessor chip and let everything else connect to it.
